The Westinghouse Legacy (TWL) is a new Pennsylvania-registered, 501(c)(3), non-profit created to honor George Westinghouse Jr.
An inventor and industrialist of such enormous depth and breadth of accomplishment, Westinghouse (1846 - 1914) still ranks among history's most impactful people.
George Westinghouse made the world a better place.
There’s no doubt Westinghouse was a great man, possibly the greatest who ever lived in Pittsburgh, and certainly greater than the business or financial "wizards" who manipulated other men's ideas.
Perhaps he might better be called an "inspired" mechanic of almost divine proportions, a Messiah of the mechanistic 19th century. What was in his mind and what emerged from his hand turned miraculously into devices that have helped transform the world.

The Westinghouse Legacy:
Gathers, curates, archives, and digitally presents
…various collections of documents, videos and other materials about George Westinghouse, the inventions he created, the companies he founded, his life and descendants.
Actively advocates for Westinghouse Park,
…the ten Pittsburgh acres that from 1871 to 1914 were “Solitude,” the estate of Marguerite and George Westinghouse.
A beautiful city greenspace for over a century, Westinghouse Park has already been determined eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and also certified as an Arboretum.
Supporting and managing these initiatives and advocating for implementation of the city's new master development plan for the park, The Westinghouse Legacy will also develop a program of archeological research to explore the historic site.
TWL will also organize community activities in the park, such as the annual Westinghouse Park .5 K race.
